Postpartum doulas on Cape Cod
I woke up this morning to an email from a Lower Cape TV reporter, Anna, that the piece we’ve been working on about the role of a postpartum doula is complete. What a gift.
The publication of this video interview comes nearly one year since I shifted my mental health counselor career to work as a trained postpartum doula. Such a rewarding job. As the interview shares, my passion has long been to support parents - validate their feelings, listen to and nurture their needs, and offer information and care.
A huge thank you to mom Monique and baby Jase - a complete joy to get to know and witness her honest and beautiful mothering journey. Thank you to Kerry McCarthy, a champion for Cape Cod families, who started the Perinatal Wellness Alliance to provide mental health support to local parents. Kerry has taught me a lot and working with her is very rewarding. And to Anna, who sat with me for hours asking great questions to learn more about the role of a doula and then produced this important journalism to raise awareness and encourage more families to seek out doula support.
