Supporting Momma Groups

There are four Supporting Momma groups available on the Cape for mommas and their babies. These groups are free and hosted in Eastham, Dennis and Falmouth. I have the true pleasure of facilitating the weekly Eastham group and the monthly Dennis group. My colleague, Shelby, runs the two Falmouth groups.

Eastham - every Thursday at 11:00am - 12:00pm at Cape Cod Children’s Place

Dennis - the third Saturday of each month (next group 5/18) 9:00am - 10:00am at South Dennis Free Library

For more info on my groups, please email Eastham@pwsupportcenter.org

Falmouth - every Monday 11:00am - 12:00pm at Mullen Hall Elementary School

Falmouth - the second Saturday of each month (next group 6/8) 11:00am - 12:00pm at The First Congregational Church

For more info on Shelby’s groups, please email Falmouth@pwsupportcenter.org

There are many reasons why I recommend these groups to moms. The special opportunity to share with other moms, feel supported, recognize “oh I’m not the only one who feels this way”, laugh and vent about the joys and challenges of motherhood, and watch the babies make baby friends. It is a joy to watch moms become friends with other moms during that hour.

I always invite moms to come in their sweatpants or pajamas, comfortable. If baby is fussy, that’s ok. If mom feels frustrated, that’s ok. Just come, momma, we got you.

Some moms talk often, some moms sit back and listen. There is certainly no obligation to share or talk. Moms supporting other moms - it’s magic to watch.

When I was a new mom, groups with other honest and caring moms were essential to my well-being as a mom, and I looked forward to attending several each week. Such groups helped me get out of the house, break up the often long day, and I made invaluable friendships. In fact, my best friend from moms group just sent me her youngest baby’s high school graduation announcement… friends for life.
