Healthy Children Project
I may have found my dream job. I find myself now balancing a growing doula practice with a new part-time position in Harwich at The Center for Breastfeeding. During my certified lactation counselor (CLC) training, I declared that the researchers teaching the class may have the best jobs in the world. This group of women educate, consult, collaborate and research the science of breastfeeding throughout the world as international experts.
“Through its Center for Breastfeeding, Healthy Children Project, a non-profit agency established in 1993, is the largest national provider of lactation management education for health care providers.”
My role will be to assist with the educational component by running competencies for CLCs-in-training and helping to incorporate more evidence-based mental health information into the courses.
Working with moms and babies is my passion. Encouraging breastfeeding that feeds both the mom’s emotional wellbeing and the baby’s developing body is another passion. Promoting mommy mental health is my background. Now I get to merge all of these with a team of women whom I hugely admire. Pinch me.
